Northern Illinois University and Rich Harvest Farms are excited to announce that we hosted the most well-attended NCAA Golf Championships in the history of the event! With eight times as many spectators as last year, the back-to-back tournaments drew spectators of all ages, from Illinois to Oklahoma. Thank you to everyone who came out to the event–we would not be able to enjoy this level of success without the dedication of our volunteers and the passion of our spectators. We look forward to having you out at Rich Harvest Farms for future tournaments!
The Men’s Championship last week was a beautiful display of fantastic weather and amazing golf, even in windy conditions. Braden Thornberry of the Ole Miss Rebels handily won the individual title May 29 over early favorite Scottie Scheffler of Texas. And while hometown favorite University of Illinois made a good showing, making it all the way to the Semifinals and drawing in large crowds, it was the University of Oklahoma that ended up beating out reigning champions University of Oregon for the team title on May 31. The Women’s Championship wasn’t hampered by the rain as it raced to an exciting conclusion the week before last. Monica Vaughn of the Arizona State University Sun Devils won the individual title by one stroke over Wake Forest’s Jennifer Kupcho on May 22. The Championship team title was also taken by Arizona State University on May 24, beating out hometown favorite Northwestern University.
