Petitions for candidates seeking election in the Consolidated Election (April 4, 2017) are now available in the office of the Village Clerk. Board position that will be on the ballot include the Village President and 3 Trustee positions. All are four (4) year terms, serving at-large. Petitions may be circulated begin September 20th. To qualify as a candidate, applicants must be a qualified elector (registered to vote) of the Village of Sugar Grove and have resided within the corporate limits of the Village for at least one year preceding the April 4, 2017, Consolidated Election.
Illinois law imposes other qualifications to be eligible to submit a petition for candidacy and to serve as an elected official of the Village of Sugar Grove. Candidates should review Illinois law and other related codes to determine whether they meet the required qualifications. Compliance with the applicable law in having the petitions for candidacy signed and submitting them along with other required documents is the sole responsibility of the candidate and not the Village of Sugar Grove or any of its employees. Neither the Clerk nor any other employee will be responsible for reviewing petitions that are filed during the filing period to determine whether they are in compliance with the law.
Candidacy petitions must be filed with the Sugar Grove Village Clerk’s Office from Dec. 12 to 19 during normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Sugar Grove Village Clerk’s Office will remain open until 5 p.m. Dec. 19 to accept petitions for candidacy.
