The Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau announces the Culinary Champion for area’s best veggie/vegan dish that’s NOT a salad: Gaetano’s in Batavia, IL and the winning dish: Fiori di Zucca!

Congratulations also to 1st Runner-up Two Brothers Roundhouse of Aurora for their vegan enchilada and to 2nd Runner-up Rowdy’s of Yorkville for their 5 grain burger. Your food was enjoyed by all of the spectators at the Hampton Inn & Suites Aurora!

A special thanks to host judge Gina Moga Special Events Manager and the City of Aurora. Thanks also to judges Jeff Schielke Mayor City of Batavia, Cort Carlson Executive Director Aurora Area CVB and our special guest judge, Chef Scott Fischer.

The last competition is scheduled for Thursday August 20 at the Fire Station in Big Rock to find the area’s best Earth-To-Table (Farm-To-Fork) meal. Competition will begin at 6:00 pm.

Mayors and Village Presidents of Aurora, Batavia, Big Rock, Hinckley, Montgomery, North Aurora, Plano, Sandwich, Sugar Grove and Yorkville which are the 10 communities comprising the Aurora Area, will judge a monthly competition in 10 food categories.  These include the best steak, seafood, pizza, ethnic, burger, soup, dessert, earth to table, BBQ and veggie/vegan dishes offered in our restaurants.  All restaurants in the listed communities are invited to participate.  The dish you enter MUST be a regular menu item.

The 10 CULINARY CHAMPIONS along with the 1st & 2nd runners up each month will be featured in a new travel itinerary that will be used to attract out-of-town visitors to the area and enjoy our BEST restaurants!
